were read and approved.

Reports of Harry L. McCann, Treasurer; Earl S. Bailey, Commissioner of
the Revenue; Robert L. De Haven, Sheriff; Joseph A. Massie, Jr., Commonwealth Attorney; B. D.
Fleenor, Road Engineer; Dr. A. L. Lindell, Health Officer; Mrs. A. W. Wright, Tuberculosis
Association; and Agnes Shirley, Home Demonstration Agent were read and approved.
AUDITORS
Upon motion, duly seconded, it is requested by this Board, that the
Auditor of Public Accounts make the annual.audit of the Frederick County Offices for the year
ending on the 30th. day of June, 1954.
JANITOR - LADIES' REST ROOM
Upon motion, duly seconded, it is ordered that Mrs. Ruth Jennings,
janitor at the ladies rest room, be paid ten dollars ($10.00) for services said rest room on
two nights during the Apple Blossom Festival.

MINERAL LAND ASSESSMENT
Earl F. Bailey, Commissioner of the Revenue of Frederick County, Vir-

ginia, presented the mineral land assessment for the- ftscaq year of 1954 ; and on motion,1
duly seconded, said assessment was approved.
ROAD VIEWERS '
It appearing to the Board that it is necessary to have road viewers
appointed and on motion, duly seconded, it is ordered that J. L. Heishman, Sloan Wolfe, A. F.
Lillard, Carroll Solenberger and J. L. Jolliffe, be, and hereby are appointed road viewers. And
it is further ordered that said viewers report at the Frederick County Clerk's Office on Friday
May 14, 1954 at 10:00 A.M. and be qualified and view certain roads.

WELFARE - .FRhDERICK COUNTY
Vlalker McC. Bond, H. A. Snapp, and Annie Sup H. St. Clair of the Wel-
fare Department appeared before the Board and requested an additional allocation of Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00) for Child Welfare for the months of May and June,-1954. Upon motion duly se-
conded, the Treasurer of•FrederiCk County is ordered to transfer Five Hundred Dollars from the
General County Funk to the Welfare Fund.
ORDINANCE - AMENDMENT TO THE NUISANCE ORDINANCE
Upon motion of B. 0. Brumback and seconded by C. E. Garber, the amended
nuisance ordinance passes its first and second readings.
The Clerk is ordered to have a notice of the same published for two
successive weeks in the Winchester Evening Star; that it is the intention of the Board of Super-
visors to propose the same for its third and final reading and passage on the 14th. day of June,
1954.

BFALTH UNIT
decided to increase the appropriation to the Health Unit from $3500.00 to $3850.00 for the year
beginning on the 1st, day of July,.1954 and ending on the 30th, day of June, 1955,
ZAMES H. PAPPAS - VARIANCE
The following is a report of the Frederick County Planning Commission:
"The Frederick County Planning Commission met at a special called meeting in the
Supervisors' doom at 2:00 P.M. on April 24,1954 to consider a request of granting a variance to
James H. Pappas to build a restaurant on the west side of U. S. Highway #11, in zone area "B".
Since zone area "B" is now restricted, the Commission voted not to grant this variance to the
said-James H. Pappas."
Upon motion of B. 0. Brumback and seconded by Grover Teets, it was unanimously
And upon motion, duly seconded, the Board approved the said report and refused to
grant the variance.
,BONING - ENLARGING AREA "B"
The following is a report of the Frederick County Planning Commission:
"The Frederick County Planning Commission met at a duly called special meeting
held in the Supervisors'.Room on April 24th, at 2 :00 P.M. for the purpose of considering an
amended oridnance providing for enlarging the zone area "B" of Frederick County, Virginia. After
hearing the pros and cons, a motion was made and duly seconded that we disapprove the amended
oridnance providing for enlarging zone area "B" of Frederick County, Virginia and leave it as it
is now."
And upon motion, duly secondedg and by a majority vote it was decided to approve
the report of the Planning Commission as presented to this Board and not to grant the request
for enlarging the zone area "B ".
On motion of Grover Teets, seconded by Charles E. Garber, it is ordered by the
Board to pay $575.00 to Walker McC. Bond when he executes a deed for the Right of 'pay through
his land on the proposed new road between Route 50 near James Wood High School and intersecting
with Route 522 near Clarence Robinson's home.
Accounts totaling$5840.14 were approved and ordered to be paid from the General
County Fund by Warrants numbers 15242 to 15282 inclusive; and Livestock, Fowl Claims and Earl
ther's salary totaling $202.17 were approved and ordered to be paid from the Dog Fund by War-
is numbers 1397 to 1402 inclusive.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it is ordered that the Board do now adjourn.
