BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
PROCLAMATION
APRIL 16-19, 1998 AS KOVAR WEEK IN FREDERICK COUNTY
WHEREAS, some of our most valued citizens, our retarded brothers and sisters, are in need
0/ help from their feDow citizens; and
WIIEREAS, the 16,200 Knights 0/ Columbus in Virginia, in their charitable and fr.aternal
role as sponsors 0/ KOVAR me Knights 0/ Virginia Assistance for the Retarded) have donated
more than $5,000,000 since 1972 to over 195 organizations effectively assisting the retarded; and
WIIEREAS, the efforts 0/ the Knights 0/ Columbus have resulted in more than $300,000
in grants to local organizations: including Northwestern Workshop, Grafton school, the Baker
House and the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) 0/ Winchester/Frederick County; and
WIIEREAS, in last years KOVAR CAMPAIGN, Virginia Knights and their families
raised over $483,000 and set their 1998 goal at $500,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that, as Chairman 0/ the Frederick
County Board 0/ Supervisors, I do proclaim April 16 - April 19, 1998 as KOVAR WEEK in
Frederick County and urge aD citizens 0/ the county to support this worthy program.
