Proc. 005-01 J'" PROCLAMATION M4 Y 2, 2001 GEORGE HAMIL TON IV DA Y IN FREDERICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA WHEREAS, in keeping with this year's theme "Crazy for the Bloom, .. it is both a privilege and an honor to welcome one of the late and great Patsy Cline's dear friends. and a country music superstar in his own right, George Hamilton IV, as a special guest to the 74,h Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hamilton's long and successful career speaks for itself with his first hit record recorded in 1956. He also enjoyed the distinct honor of being the very first American country singer to perform in Moscow, and has been dubbed .. The International Ambassador of Country Mus ic" by Billboard Magazine; and WHEREAS. despite a very busy schedule including traveling. concert dates. and appearances at the Grand Ole Opry. Mr. Hamilton has devoted a great deal of time and energy to local efforts to open a Patsy Cline Museum in the Winchester/Frederick County area; and WHEREAS, his annual performances at the "Celebrating Patsy Cline Weekend," and efforts to ensure that both the music and memories live on to be enjoyed by future generations are greatly appreciated by the people of Frederick County and Patsy Cline fans everywhere; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED. that the Chairman of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim Wednesday, May 2.2001. as: GEORGE HAMILTON IV DAY in the County of Frederick and urges all citizens to join in its observance.
